Dr. Sarah Coren

I’m a clinical psychologist known for a warm, grounded approach to working with teens, young adults, and parents—helping them navigate anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, and identity development.

As the founder of CC Psychology, my mission is simple: to bring Compassion and Connection into every session, creating a space where real emotions meet real tools—no jargon, no judgment, just meaningful progress.

I’m licensed in Florida (FL) and New York (NY) and all PSYPACT authorized states. With advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP), I combine evidence-based expertise with an approach that’s authentic, collaborative, and deeply human. Rooted in the latest research, our work together is built on trust, understanding, and respect—so clients feel truly heard, seen, and supported. By blending clinical skill with warmth and just the right amount of humor, we make hard conversations feel more approachable—and healing more attainable.

Our Expertise

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a group of evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors - teaching clients how to challenge unhelpful thought, face fears and challenges directly, and get you more actively engaged in life. These skills reduce avoidance and lead to deep, lasting change.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps clients build a meaningful life by developing skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. When indicated, I am able to offer full-model DBT, including phone coaching for clients in a DBT skills group. For others, I often integrate DBT tools to better support anxiety, depression, and OCD to improve outcomes.

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is a specialized form of CBT for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Clients gradually face feared situations that trigger obsessive thoughts (“exposures”) while fighting urges to engage in their compulsions (“response prevention”), helping reduce distress over time. This process reduces avoidance, builds emotional resilience, and empowers clients to move through fears with greater confidence.

Parenting Support

Parent-based therapy, including Parent Management Training (PMT) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), help caregivers change their own behaviors to more effectively navigate conflict, reduce problem behaviors in their child, improve family communication, reduce unhelpful accommodations, and support their child’s emotional needs.

 FAQs

  • You can begin by reaching out via email or by phone for a free 15 minute consultation call. This is a time for you to share with me about your reasons for seeking therapy for yourself or your child and to ask questions about my services.

If you feel ready to move forward with treatment, you may also reach out to set up an intake evaluation. This is an initial appointment before starting individual therapy. The appointment provides an opportunity to assess whether I am the right fit for your goals and clinical needs and for me to provide treatment recommendations.

The initial evaluation process varies depending on the age of the client and the needs of the family. For adult clients, the initial appointment is typically 60 minutes. For children and younger adolescents, I typically schedule a two part evaluation. I complete the first part with only the parents/guardians present. On a separate day I meet with the child with the parent/guardian initially present. For older adolescents, I often meet with the teen primarily for the first part of the evaluation.

  • If your teen is showing persistent changes in mood, behavior, sleep patterns, or social interactions that concern you, therapy can provide valuable support. It's also beneficial for teens navigating significant life changes or struggling with specific challenges.

  • For clients who reside in Miami I am able to offer in-person sessions at my office located in Coral Gables. For clients who prefer to meet virtually, or for those who reside outside of Florida, sessions will be held virtually.  I offer teletherapy to residents of New York and states participating in the Psychology Interjurisdictional Company (PSYPACT) through my Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT).

I use Zoom for healthcare providers, a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Both in my experience and in the research we have seen that telehealth yields the same outcomes of in-person therapy and that the therapeutic alliance is as strong through telehealth as compared to in-person therapy. It’s okay if you’re not sure which setting is best for you - we can discuss this during our initial call.

  • Typically, therapy sessions take place on a weekly basis for 45-50 minutes. Ninety-minute or twice-weekly appointments are available as indicated. The duration of treatment varies with each client and family, as treatment is individualized to your specific goals and clinical needs. Many clients also find that new goals or problems may arise during the course of care, which extends the length of treatment. Your treatment is ultimately up to you and I encourage you to discuss the course of your treatment with me at any point in time.

As you meet your therapy goals, we will hold sessions less frequently in preparation for ending therapy. After completing a course of treatment, occasional “booster” sessions are available for ongoing support.

  • As an out-of-network provider, insurance is not accepted. I provide you with a monthly superbill that you can send to your insurance company and they may reimburse you a percentage of the overall cost of therapy. To see if you have out-of-network coverage and are eligible for reimbursement, call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health/behavioral health treatment both in person and through telehealth?

    • Do I have an out-of-network deductible to meet before I am eligible for reimbursement? If so, how much of that deductible has been met this year?

    • What is the usual and customary rate covered for outpatient psychotherapy? Provide them with the following service codes listed below (code with ‘-95’ designates telehealth specifier):

      • 90791 / 90791-95: Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation (intake appointment)

      • 90832 / 90832-95: Psychotherapy, 30 minutes

      • 90834 / 90834-95: Psychotherapy, 45 minutes

      • 90837 / 90837-95: Psychotherapy, 60 minutes

      • 90846 / 90846-95: Family Psychotherapy without patient present

      • 90847 / 90847-95: Family Psychotherapy with patient present

  • My fee is $300 for a 45-50 minute session. This amount gets prorated based on the session time (i.e., $200 for a 30 minute session, $400 for 60 minutes).

Notice: Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

The No Surprises Act was designed to protect consumers from receiving unexpected medical bills. The Good Faith Estimate provision of the No Surprises Act is designed to give consumers predictability in how much they will be charged for the healthcare services they will be receiving, prior to their appointment. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the estimated cost of your care.

Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

This estimate covers the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including related fees for things like labs, medications, or equipment (if applicable).

    What to Expect:

    • Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your scheduled medical service.

    • You can also request a Good Faith Estimate at any time, even before you book an appointment.

    • If your final bill is $400 or more above the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

To receive a Good Faith Estimate, contact Dr. Sarah Coren.
